September 2009: Samir Saoudi appointed an IEEE Senior Member
Samir Saoudi, a Professor in the Signal and Communication Department of Télécom Bretagne, has been promoted to Senior Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
June 2009: Laurence Likforman-Sulem promoted to the grade of IEEE Senior Member
Laurence Likforman-Sulem, a Professor at Télécom parisTech, has been promoted to the grade of senior member of the IEEE for her teaching activities in shape recognition and her research into document analysis and writing recognition.
26 July 2009: Stefano Secci, a PhD student at Télécom ParisTech, wins the Best Paper Award at the NGI Conference 2009
Stefano Secci, a PhD student in the Computer Science and Networks Department of Télécom ParisTech, won the Best Paper Award at the NGI Conference 2009, for the article entitled ClubMED: Coordinated Multi-Exit Discriminator Strategies for Peering Carriers by Stefano Secci, Jean-Louis Rougier, Achille Pattavina, Fioravante Patrone and Guido Maier.
The paper was presented to the 5th Euro-NGI Conference on Next Generation Internet Networks (NGI 2009) from 1st to 3 July 2009 in Aveiro, Portugal.
The work was carried out as part of the INCAS activity of the Euro-NF European project and the I-GATE project of the Network of the Future Lab at the Institut Télécom.

Xavier Lagrange, Professor and Director of the Networks, Security and Multimedia Department, has been promoted to Senior Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

January 2009: Gilbert Lainey promoted to the rank of Commander in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques
Gilbert Lainey, the Deputy Director of Télécom Bretagne, was promoted on 1st January 2009 to the rank of Commander in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, rewarding thirty years of dedicated work at the service of teaching at Télécom Bretagne.

Guériot appointed an IEEE Senior Member
Didier Guériot, a Professor in the Electronic Engineering Department, has been
promoted to the rank of IEEE Senior Member. This is the highest grade awarded
by the IEEE (Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and to be admitted, applicants must
be engineers, teachers or researchers with at least 10 years of professional
experience. In particular, they must be able to provide evidence of their
achievements through publications or patents. Only 8% of IEEE members are
Senior Members.

Claude Berrou promoted to the rank of IEEE Fellow
Claude
Berrou, a professor from the Electronics Department at TELECOM
Bretagne, is promoted to the level of IEEE Fellow, in view of his
invention of turbo codes and his involvement in the generalization of
the principle of turbos and in standardization.

October 2008 : Étienne Gallet de Santerre and Laurent Toutain are awarded the prize
for the best article at the 6th MajecSTIC
Étienne Gallet de Santerre, a PHD student, and Laurent Toutain, a professor,
both from the Optics Department of Télécom Bretagne (Rennes campus), were
awarded the best article prize at the 6th Young Researchers in Information
and Communication Science and Technologies (MajecSTIC 2008).
October 2008 : René Garello re-elected Vice President of "Oceanic Engineering" at the IEEE
The term of office of René Garello, full research professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Télécom Bretagne, has been extended.

September 2008 : Isabelle Bloch appointed to the National
Committee for Scientific Research
Isabelle Bloch, a professor in the Signal and Image Processing Department at
Télécom ParisTech, has been appointed to the National Committee for Scientific
Research in Division 07 Information Systems, Signal and Image Processing and
Automation. Working with the CNRS, the National
Committee for Scientific Research comprises research advisory and
assessment boards.
Philippe Letellier, Institut Télécom Deputy Scientific Director, has been appointed ITEA 2 Vice Chairman responsible for the roadmap.

July 2008 : Walid Benameur receives the Glover Klingman Prize from Networks magazine
Walid
Benameur (teacher and researcher at TELECOM&Management SudParis)
and José Neto have received the Glover Klingman Prize for the best
article in Networks.
Their article "Acceleration of cutting-plane and column generation
algorithms: Applications to network design" was selected in front of 59 others published in Networks in 2007.

2008 : A Télécom Bretagne PhD student wins the Best Paper Award at NGI'08
Pedro Casas won the Best Paper Award at the IEEE / IFIP "Next Generation
Internet 2008" Conference for his work on "Robust and Reactive
Traffic Engineering for Dynamic Traffic Demands" co-signed by Lionel
Fillatre and Sandrine Vaton. Pedro Casas is working on a PhD thesis under the
supervision of Sandrine Vaton, teacher and researcher in the IT Department of TELECOM
Bretagne.

April 2008 : Sofiane Hassayoun and David Ros awarded
the prize for the best article at the IEEE INFOCOM High-Speed Networks Workshop
2008
Sofiane Hassayoun and David Ross, a PhD student and teacher-researcher
respectively in the Networks, Security and Multimedia Department of TELECOM
Bretagne, will be receiving the award for the best article on the occasion of
the High-Speed Networks 2008 conference on 13 April 2008.
