The Research and Technological Development Framework Program

IST Program Projects | Other R&D framework programs  | Topics of Interest for the FP7 ICT Program 2009-2010

On the strength of its participation in 40 projects during the 6th RDT Framework Program (2002-2006), the Institut Télécom is actively involved in the 7th RDT Framework Program which started in 2007, mainly in the ICT section.

The Institut Télécom is taking part in 17 European projects, including one as coordinator (Networks of the Future Euro-NF network of excellence).

ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) Cooperation Program

The Institut Télécom is involved in 16 projects (calls 1 to 3).

  • 7 projects in the "Networks of the Future" thematic program: NoE Euro-NF, NoE BONE, NoE NewCom, IP 4Ward, STREP DICONET, STREP MOBITHIN, SSA EIFFEL.

In this thematic program The Institut Télécom is one of the key players in Europe.

  • 3 projects in the "Security" domain: CA ThinkTrust, CA Inco-Trust, STREP SHIELDS
  • 1 project in the "Networked Medias" thematic program: STREP Napa-Wine
  • 1 project in the "Photonics" thematic program: NoE Euro-Fos
  • 1 project in the "ICT for the elderly" thematic program: IP CompanionAble
  • 1 project in the "ICT and transport" thematic program: STREP EVITA
  • 1 project in the "ICT and the environment" thematic program: STREP Mobesens
  • 1 project in the "Pervasive systems, connecting objects" thematic program: CA Panorama

Capacities Program

The Institut Télécom is a partner in the REDICT (Regional economic development by ICT/New media cluster) project, launched on the initiative of the European Commission (Regions of Knowledge). The purpose of the project is to encourage the exchange of good practice between clusters in the digital contents sector in order to help businesses grow in this domain.

Against this backdrop, the Ile-de-France region has set up a consortium comprising the Cap Digital Paris-Region competitiveness cluster, the Institut Télécom, and the Paris-Ile-de-France Regional Development Agency.

This consortium is a partner of the regions of Amsterdam, Berlin, Bucharest, Copenhagen and Dublin which form the REDICT project consortium.

> IST Priority of the 6th RDT Framework Program

In the 6th RDT Framework Program, the Institut Télécom held a position within a large number of priorities of the IST Program, in particular the thematic programs covering mobile and wireless communications, research on broadband networks, and research on security.

The IST projects coordinated by the Institut Télécom

The Institut Télécom coordinated three networks of excellence and one specific support action:

  • Euro-NGI/Euro-FGI (Design and Engineering of the Next Generation Internet / Future Generation Internet) networks
    These two networks involved around 60 partners in Europe. The main objective was to partner the best European centers working on design and engineering issues related to the future generation internet.

  • BIOSECURE, Biometrics for Secure Authentication network
    Running until 2007, BioSecure included 29 international partners and federated the European teams involved in biometrics research, while at the same time enhancing the international visibility of this research.

> Other 6th RDT Programs

Marie Curie projects coordinated by the Institut Télécom

The Institut Télécom was coordinator of three Marie Curie projects in the “Structuring the European research space” program (“Human resources and mobility” section). The purpose of the Marie Curie projects was to develop and transfer skills in research, to consolidate and broaden the professional perspectives of researchers, and to promote excellence in European research. 

  • Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship (EIF): AD WAV Adaptive wavelets for data representation and compression
  • Marie Curie Outgoing International Fellowship (OIF): IPTEM Network-independent Multimedia Service Architecture
  • Marie Curie Collective Action, TAROT, Training And Research On Testing: program of advanced training and research in a multidisciplinary context with the community working on testing methods.
