International partnerships
Europe and international
The research organization Institut Télécom is quite naturally a key
player in international research programs. At the top of the list of priorities,
it plays a major role in the Framework Program for Research and Technical
Development (RTD Framework Program) which forms the heart of the
pre-competitive research financed and managed by the European Union.
The Institut Télécom is also present in many other European research programs,
notably Eureka which supports technological cooperation projects between
European businesses and laboratories.
Internationally, the Institut Télécom plays an active part in the initiatives of
the French Foreign Affairs Ministry: Integrated Action Program, STIC-Asia,
STIC-South America...
The Institut Télécom has formed a growing number of partnerships with
its academic and industrial counterparts in Europe, with the aim of putting
forward proposals in response to the various calls for proposals in the
framework program, mainly those in the ICT (Information & Communication
Technologies) section.
In the course of the 6th RTD Framework Program (2002-2006),
the Institut Télécom took part in more than 40 projects including three as
coordinator, thereby bolstering its position as one of the major French players
in this program.
The 7th RTD Framework Program started in 2007 and the Institut
Télécom is already involved in 17 projects, including one as coordinator.
In parallel, the Institut Télécom is an active member of the European technology platforms, in particular NEM (Networked and Electronic Media) and eMobility (mobile and wireless communications).
The schools of the Institut Télécom have set up a great many educational and scientific cooperation agreements with the world’s leading universities and research centers (framework agreements, cooperation agreements, Socrates programs, Erasmus Mundus, etc.).
On the strength of these exchanges, the institute is developing complementary research partnerships around the world. Among others, it is taking part in the programs set up by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry in support of research into ICT in Asia (STIC-ASIA) and South America (STIC-South America).
