Composition of the Board of Governors
The Institut Télécom Board of Governors is chaired by the Vice President of the General Council of Industry, Energy and Technologies (CGIET). Since September 24, 2009, Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman of the Board of Vivendi, has been President of the Institut Télécom Board of Governors. Aside from the President, the Board has 24 members:
- The Presidents of the three school boards, ex-officio members, appointed by a ruling of the Minister for Telecommunications
- Seven State representatives appointed by a ruling of the Minister for Telecommunications, including one appointed following a proposal by the Minister for Industry, one appointed following a proposal by the Minister for the Budget, one appointed following a proposal by the Minister for Research, and one appointed following a proposal by the Minister for Higher Education
- Four qualified personalities selected for their expertise in the educational, scientific, economic and industrial fields, appointed by a ruling of the Minister for Telecommunications
- Three personalities appointed by a ruling of the Minister for Telecommunications, selected from among the alumni of each of the institute’s schools
- Three students’ representatives, one per school
- Four elected staff representatives, including three representing the teaching and research staff in each school
The following also take part in the meetings of the Board of Governors, in an advisory capacity: the General Director and the three Deans of the schools, as well as the staff members they appoint, the Auditor and, on the request of the President of the Board of Governors, the President of the Institut Télécom Scientific Advisory Board.
The Board of Governors members are appointed for 3 years. Their term can be renewed once, with the exception of the students’ representatives who are elected for one year.
