The Institut Telecom plays an active role in economic development and competitiveness in France
by supporting the creation of businesses in the ICT sector. The Group’s
schools foster the development of an entrepreneurial spirit amongst
their students and provide assistance for business start-ups by their
students, research and teaching staff and formers students.
In this context, the Institut Telecom takes a proactive approach to encourage business start-ups with four objectives:
- To raise awareness and train engineers capable of becoming entrepreneurs through the development of an entrepreneurial spirit and taste for innovation during graduate program.- Fully utilize the scientific research carried out in the schools by supporting and/or funding projects and technology transfers resulting from research.- To provide project leaders with the tools and resources required to support and back-up business start-ups in the field of Information and Communication Technologies.- To support in its incubators students, graduates and research and teaching staff with a business start-up project.
The entrepreneurial policy of the Institut Telecom is led by a structured network, mobilising a total of around ten experienced and highly committed personnel, calling on the services of a number of experts (business start-up consultants, legal experts, financial experts, etc.). Head Office and the schools together implement and reflect on actions concerning the whole group: technology transfer strategy, partnerships, funding, legal questions, collective operations.
The schools, which are constantly on the look out for potential business start-up projects, identify research studies that could lead to a business start-up and provide training and support for project leaders. Each school has its own incubator integrated in the regional business start-up system.
Its coordinated actions make the Institut Telecom a major hub of skills in terms of entrepreneurship in the field of Information and Communication Technology.
