Why archiv?

For 4 fundamental reasons

1° because the Institut Télécom is a public administrative institution

As a result, it must comply with French law 79-18 of 3 January 1979 relative to the storage and management of public archives. It therefore depends on the Center of Contemporary Archives (National Archives) for its archives. It benefits from its assistance via the Missions Department.

2° for legal reasons

In order to comply with legal and regulatory provisions and to guarantee, as far as possible, the existence of means of proof in the event of disputes.

3° as a source of information

• To store previous works,
• To provide information,
• To aid decision-making.

4° to provide answers for the purposes of historical research

Historians can never have too much information:

• Where can I find a recording of the 1st TSF concert performed by the ESPTT in 1925? (real example)
• I need to compile biographical reports of people trained at ENST in order to study their involvement in teaching reforms at ENST. (real example)
• What were the relationships between the 'Commission du Titre d’Ingénieurs' (Engineering Titles Commission' and each of the three schools between such and such dates? (fictional example)
