Law No. 79-18 of 3 January 1979 stipulates the rules governing the creation of public archives.
By the terms of this, the Institut Télécom has been attached to the National Archives since April 2000, and, more specifically, to the Department of Contemporary Archives via the Missions Department. Within this department, the Heritage curator in charge of monitoring relations with public bodies advises GET and authorises the destruction of archives.
Within this department, Mr. Laurent Ferri, Heritage curator in charge of handling relations with public bodies, authorises requests to destroy archives and advises the Institut Télécom.
In this context, the Institut Télécom set up a process aimed at specifying the work to be carried out in terms of coordination of the archives of each entity in 2000:
- to set the rules for inventory-making and organisation and to monitor progress,
- to draw up elements for a GET archive management policy.
